Background

Dr. Matthew Jelavic is Board Chair, National President and CEO of the Canadian Institute of Management, Public Representative Board Director with the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations and Board Director with the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers. He also serves internationally on the Membership and Professional Development Board of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and various committees and working groups in management and engineering in Canada and internationally.

He received his doctorate in Business Administration from the Grenoble École de Management in Grenoble, France, and master's degree in Management Sciences from the University of Waterloo. His research and practice areas focus on knowledge, technology, engineering and innovation management.

As an internationally recognized management expert and consultant, he is an expert in the field of corporate leadership and board governance with decades of experience encompassing management and technology within the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, both private and public.

He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and Professor within the School of Science and Engineering Technology at Durham College, where he teaches and conducts applied research in the areas of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, applied mechanics, fluid power and physics.
